Position Details:
--- Title: Field Service Engineer
--- Locations:
o New Orleans, LA
o Galveston, TX
o Seattle, WA / Pacific Northwest
--- Travel: These are high travel positions that will require travel in segments of anywhere from a couple of days in length to several weeks (for large installation / commissioning projects), primarily throughout the Gulf of Mexico region and Pacific Northwest, but realistically near any shipyards / ports, including international. For longer jobs, you will be flown home every couple of weeks for a weekend. And when you are not travelling to a job site, you will either receive down time at home, provide technical phone support to customers from home or occasionally work out of one of company's local depot, performing in-house overhauls, maintenance, etc.
--- Compensation: Target base rate -$30/hr to $35/hr (candidates with significant experience directly related to the company's industry and operations may be considered for higher base rates)
o Bonuses/Additional Compensation: Because this is a travel position, you will receive per diem during all travel and overtime is paid at 1.5X after 40 hours.

Position Descriptions:
Field Service Engineer - Propulsion & Handling
In this role you will work specifically with the company's proprietary Propulsion and Handling Systems and Equipment and be responsible for servicing the systems onboard ships both in port (at shipyards) and/or at sea. You will provide technical troubleshooting, maintenance and repair support as well as commissioning and installation of new systems associated with propulsion and handling (engines, generators, shaft lines, reduction gears, thrusters, propellers, etc). The position requires availability to travel (domestic and international) to attend service and training in planned or short notice demands. Weekend and holiday travel is uncommon, but occasionally required. Typical jobs range anywhere from one to four days length, although larger commissioning projects can last up to several weeks. You can expect to receive significant (and continued) On-The-Job Training as well as formalized equipment training at company's International HQ in Norway. Some specific responsibilities include:

--- Technical support on Dynamic Positioning Systems, Company Reference Systems, other Vendor Reference Systems, and various Propulsion Systems.
--- Commissioning work on new builds and upgrades to existing installations.
--- Technical assistance to Sales & Marketing and Aftersales.
--- Provide in-house technical support by phone and email to internal and external customers
--- Follow-up with appropriate technical department after service jobs.
--- Develop qualifications by participating at internal / external courses and education.
--- Report problems and suggest improvements using KM Quality Tools as QC Responsible.
--- Identify and report incidents, improvements, and needs to Service Manager.
--- Prioritize and complete work tasks for the assigned service trip or project.

Field Service Engineer - Health Management Systems
In this role you will work specifically with the company's proprietary Health Management equipment monitoring systems that enable customers to mitigate the capital and operational risks associated with the failure or unplanned maintenance of critical machinery such as Bergen engines, low-pressure hydraulic winches and rotating machinery (such as thrusters, shaft-lines and auxiliaries). Key responsibilities include:
--- Mounting and commissioning offline and online measurements devices.
--- Verify conditions and details through visual confirmation.
--- Conduct video scope and basic visual inspections.
--- Installation and commissioning of monitoring systems (i.e. CMU-8, CMU-16, K-CMS, etc).
--- Relevant product owner familiarization and commissioning training.
--- Installation of vessel insight systems and equipment.
--- Produce and upload data, reports and documentation.
--- Competency in vibration analysis.

In order to be successful in these roles, you should have experience related to shipboard propulsion and controls systems, ideally those associated with engines and/or auxiliary equipment. Navy Machinists Mates, A-Gangers, GSMs and other similar ratings are ideal. You should also be comfortable navigating computer operating systems and software packages. And you must be service-minded and customer-focused.
